RAISED BEDS
I’ve made raised beds for 3 clients.
I use 2×6 Port Orford cedar, a wood
well suited for outdoor use.
The angles were rarely 90 degrees, so I borrowed
a technique I use in my furniture-making-
half-lapping.
Then I drill a hole through both pieces and slide a
length of 3/8″ re-bar into the hole.
I leave about 4″ of re-bar sticking up,so they can
slide an arched tube over the re-bar and create a
protective covering for the beds.
The black bicycle grips slide over the re-bar and
prevent injury when the protective covering is not used.
