RECENT PROJECTS
This trellis is my latest project.

The 4 posts holding up the trellis are Alaskan yellow Cedar- set in concrete. For the grid I used western red cedar.

The 2×6 on the top is a modified Cloudlift, The bottom is arched instead of the usual straight line.

I used Alaska yellow cedar for the 4 posts, western red cedar for the slats and mahogany for the arches.
Here’s a close up.

This project started out as a simple arbor- 4 posts (4×4 alaskan yellow cedar) with a open metal grid (hog wire fence) to support the grapes.
But then we added benches on both sides and to dress up the back support we placed glass blocks between the 4″ wide wood supports and mahogany top and bottom.

Finally we added pickets in back of this support.

The hog wire fence is supported by several 2x6s.
Here’s a recent photo-a few added pieces.

For this project I got to combine cedar, juniper and bamboo.

To build this archway I used alaskan yellow cedar for the 2 posts and Meranti ( a type of mahogany) for the 4 arches. Each arch is made from 3 separate pieces. i cut a half lap in the ends of each piece for a stronger joint.
