GARDEN STRUCTURES
This pergola is 16ft wide 8ft deep and 10ft tall. I used white fir for all the beams. White fir is a better grade of fir- straighter and with less knots than regular doug fir.

I built this archway using Alaskan Yellow cedar for the 4×4 posts and meranti (a type of mahogany ) for the arch ribs. Then I added Tam Vong bamboo poles supported by western red cedar strips.

To make this privacy screen I used Fiji mahogany for the frame and \western red cedar for the infill. Fiji mahogany is well suited for outdoor use.- I used it for the handrail of a 12ft footbridge I built with a group of kids.

Here’s the latest project – a “Torii Screen” Debby of Debby’s Yards worked with me to erect the 10ft tall 4×4 posts. We used a metal “hog wire” screen and then a cedar trellis frame, and topped it all with a pair of 2x6s.
