How much can you lift with this crane?
and not have it tip over?
How do the different types of bridges work?
How can we use an inclinometer and a real transit to “survey” and lay out a baseball diamond?
I have working models of all the different bridge types, which the kids can use to understand the engineering forces at work.
Also the many cranes can teach the kids :
-about leverage, pulleys and Mechanical Advantage
– what the max load is- and how much counter weight is needed
If possible- we could go outside to the school playground???? and use trigonometry to do “surveying”.
Each kid could build either:
-this truss bridge ($8) per
Or this bridge
\
OR
this crane
also around $20 per
